Nalla's Bladder Blend, an herbal remedy

This blog is dedicated to:
“Mountain Rose Herbs Recipe Contest.”

Nalla is my 12 year old lab-mix. About a year and a half ago she was diagnosed with cancer, which recently has spread into her kidneys and bladder. After learning that her irregular incontinence issues, along with blood and mucous in the urine, were not because of a urinary tract infection, I came up with the recipe below. This mixture is to sooth, tone and heal, and relieve any discomfort that she may be having.

Nalla's Bladder Blend
***mix together equal parts of the following***
Couchgrass
Plantain
Corn Silk
Shatavari
Horsetail (to help with the blood in the urine)
Turmeric

-for my 70 pound dog, I add just enough HOT water to about one Tablespoon of the mix and make a tea

-I pour the tea, once steeped, over her food, twice per day

Marshmallow root

-I then sprinkle approximately one half of a Tablespoon of marshmallow root over her food because she loves the taste and also to sooth/cool the digestive and urinary tracts.

*(this recipe would also be helpful for a dog that does have a UTI, but I would then add an antibacterial/antimicrobial herb as well)
